Karla Kellogg Dautenhahn, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 6th, 2022, passing away at the age of 63 after a 9 year battle with Breast Cancer.
Karla Kaye Kellogg was born on September 10th, 1958 in Fulton, Missouri. She moved to Marshall, Missouri in the 10th grade and graduated from Marshall High School in 1976. Following High School, she attended Missouri Valley College, and graduated with an Associate Arts degree in 1978.
She married David Dautenhahn on June 3rd, 1978 in Marshall, Missouri. Karla and David had been dating since high school. The majority of her married life was focused on raising her three children in Plano, Texas and Overland Park, Kansas. When Karla and David became Empty-Nesters, Karla refocused her attention to stay very involved in the lives of her Grandchildren. Karla volunteered and worked part-time at Bethany Lutheran Church where she focused on Outreach. Karla also volunteered many years at Blessings Abound (A Thrift Store supporting Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries).
Karla was preceded in death by her father and mother, Carl and Carroll Kellogg, and her granddaughter, Eleanor Dautenhahn. Karla is survived by David, her husband of 43 years; her children Sarah Simon (Kelley) of Pratt, Kansas, Jeremy Dautenhahn (Mallorie) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Rachel Dautenhahn (Jessica) of Wichita, Kansas; and nine precious grandchildren: Shay & Lane Dean Simon, Noah, Samuel, Charlie and Grace Beth Dautenhahn, and Elliott, Bennett and Kaylee Blair. Also surviving are her Sisters and Brother (Pam Lewis and Kevin Kellogg of Athens, Tennessee, and Karen Vogel of Naperville, Illinois).
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church (5601 W 62nd St, Mission, KS 66202) on Thursday, May 12 at 10:00. A Visitation will begin at 9:00. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens (11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210) following the Service. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church , 5601 West 62nd Street, Mission, KS 66202 or Holy Cross Lutheran School , 600 North Greenwich, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
