Adam Phillip Baker, 23, went to be with the Lord, June 7, 2012. Services will be held on Thursday June 14th at Blue Valley Baptist Church at 151st and Antioch. Visitation will be at 10am, service at 11am with cremation to follow.
Adam was born on January 3, 1989 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri to Suzanne and Phillip Baker. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, MO in 2007 and went on to receive his Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 2011. From a young age, Adam had a love for life and a passion for helping others. He worked for Hy-Vee through High School and College where he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. After passing his nursing boards, Adam began working at St. Joseph Medical Center in January of 2012, where he continued to show his passion for service to others. He enjoyed playing Ultimate Frisbee throughout high school, college and in summer leagues. Adam also enjoyed playing sand volleyball, his daily workouts, all genres of music, and had a love for Xavier Basketball, the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, and Sporting KC. Adam brought joy and laughter to every life he touched.
Adam was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Manuel Herrera and his Aunt Pearl Carr. He is survived by his parents, Suzanne and Phillip Baker, Brother, Matthew and Sister – In – Law Megan Scanlon, Sister, Whitney Baker, Maternal Grandmother, Grace Herrera, and Paternal Grandparents Sarah and Creed Baker. Adam was also the proud uncle of the newest addition to the family, Eloise Kate Scanlon.
In lieu of flowers, Adam's parents have set up a nursing scholarship in his name through St. Joseph Medical Center to continue his love of nursing and helping others.
