Mrs. Adelaide MacLean

June 15, 1916 — February 2, 2010

Adelaide Lewis MacLean, 93, of Overland Park passed away February 2, 2010. A celebration of Adelaide’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity.
Adelaide was born June 15, 1916 in Akron, Ohio to William Lewis and Ina Becraft Lewis Lambert. She traced her ancestry to the Mayflower where she learned she was a decedent of William Soule. She was married to Charles Rex MacLean on April 20, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan.
Adelaide enjoyed volunteering her time for many organizations, including The American Red Cross-Disaster Committee, Junior League of Lansing, Michigan, Wharton Center for the Performing Arts at Michigan State University, and St. Lawrence Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Lansing Country Club, in Lansing, Michigan. Her favorite pastimes were playing bridge, antiquing, needlepoint, knitting, and spending time at her summer home at the lake in Northern Michigan. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she treasured her family time.
After becoming a resident at The Court at Overland Park she participated in “Memories in the Making” and several of her paintings were auctioned to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and son, Charles Douglas MacLean.
Left to cherish Adelaide’s memory is her daughter, Carolyn Jo Boyd of Williamsburg, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Karen E. MacLean and granddaughter, Allison Marie MacLean Lawrence and her husband, Ronny, all of Overland Park.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at The Court at Overland Park for their love and care.
