Adonis Phillips Davis, known by many as Donnie and by some as Nonnie, was born on March 12, 1934, in Dale County, Ala. She went to be with our Lord on January 5, 2010, near her home in Olathe, Kan. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Donnie was a wonderful wife and excellent mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a well-loved member and servant at First Southern Baptist Church of Overland Park and also volunteered at Olathe Medical Center until her illness precluded her ability to do so.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jim D. Davis; four children: Gayle Davis and Bill Paulling of Batesburg, S.C., Glenn and Rhonda Davis of Derby, Kan., Jeanne Davis and John Hewitt of Kearney, Mo., and Jackie Davis and Carl Kincaid of Olathe, Kan.; nine grandchildren: John (Anna) Paulling, Samuel Paulling, Matthew (LeAnn) Davis, Nathan Davis, Phillip Hewitt, Maggie (Nathan) Reeves, Seth Kincaid, Andie Kincaid, and Jaxon Kincaid, and three great-grandchildren, Sullivan Paulling, Matilyn Davis and Myra Davis. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lemuel Phillips and Hassie Earle Welch Phillips, and two grandsons, Jeffrey Morgan and Jayme Donaldson Kincaid.
Donnie influenced many lives, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, from 5-7 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 8, also at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests tax deductible contributions be made to Mount Meru Foundation, 3474 S. Meridian, Wichita, KS 67217. Mount Meru Foundation was established by Glenn Davis and exists to promote the cause of Christ in Africa through education.
