Agnes Knipper

July 29, 1922 — December 20, 2020

Overland Park

Agnes (Weber) Knipper passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2020. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and a long time member of Holy Cross church.  Her faith and family were most important to her.  A memorial mass will be held on Monday, Dec. 28th at 10:30am at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W 93rd St, Overland Park, KS, 66212. Masks and social distancing are required at the service. The mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe9dtd-rKt0zBpPp9mBKc8w .  A private family burial will follow.

Agnes was born on July 29, 1922 in Kansas City, KS, to Frank and Mary (Gulden) Weber, she was the third of eight children. Shortly after her graduation from Wyandotte High School in 1940, she joined the war effort working at North American assembling radios for B-52 bombers.  She met the love of her life, Albert Knipper, at a church ice cream social after the war. The two married in 1948 enjoying over 50 happy years together. She was a devoted wife, mother,  grandmother and great friend to many.

Not one to sit idle, Agnes juggled motherhood with working for years at the SSA. During retirement, her interest in health and wellness led she and Al to open Aggie’s Health Food store in Shawnee. Agnes had a strong competitive streak that was particularly notable when playing cards. Whether it was a game of spoons with her grandkids or canasta with one of her regular card groups, Agnes was a frequent victor. She was a lifelong learner with a zest for life that was an inspiration to many. For her, age was truly only an attitude.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, daughter, Barbara Intfen, and siblings: Trudy, Marie, Vincent, Paul and Bob. She will be affectionately remembered by her surviving family; sister Bonnie Weber, and brother Frank Weber, daughters Joan (Bob) Carter, and Mary (Bill) Walker; six grandchildren: Alex (Becky) Intfen, Jennifer (Tim) Fortin, Eric (Crystal) Intfen, Chris (Kim) Carter, Nichole (James) Waring, and Angelo Chiaverini,  and 12 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, KS, 4200 S. 4th St.,  Leavenworth, KS 66048.
