Agnes Teters Rhea, 95, of Overland Park, KS
passed away on, Monday, November 08, 2010, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel at 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210 with Chaplain Roger Freed officiating. Visitation at 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cherokee Christian Church, Prairie Village, KS. where Agnes was a member.Agnes was born in Fayette, MO, to Tinie Rife and Dova Jane (McAdams) Teters on September 10, 1915. She graduated from Fayette High School in 1933. After graduation, Agnes worked for Aetna Life Ins. Co. in Kansas City, MO. On May 31, 1941 she was united in marriage to Richard Jewett Rhea. Agnes was a loving and supportive mate for Richard, homemaking during their early years in Goodman, MO; Salina, KS; St. Joseph, MO; and Kansas City, KS. They settled in Prairie Village, KS where they raised their children. She was a devoted mother and teacher of values to her two sons. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Donzella Mae Buchanan and Mary Thelma Evans. She is survived by Richard, her husband of 69 years; her sister, Marjorie Jean Zahnweh of St. Louis, MO; her son, Burt Jewett Rhea and daughter-in-law, Gayle (Houston) Rhea of Overland Park, KS; her son, Lawrence Robert Rhea and daughter-in-law, Barbara Rhea of Olathe, KS; her grandson, Chris Michael Rhea and wife, Lisa (Leon) Rhea, great-grandchildren Patrick Woodson Rhea and Allyssa Marie Rhea of Leawood, KS; and her grandson, Todd Alan Rhea and wife, Marlo (Thomas) Rhea; great-grandchildren, Maile Rhea and Taylor Rhea of Fort Collins, CO. Agnes was warm, kind, and loving and will be greatly missed.
