Alan Ray Alley, 53, of Merriam, KS passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Alan was the victim of a single car accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Cyrus R. Alley; stepbrothers, Charlie and Ronnie Young and his aunt, Marlene Sheil. Alan is survived by his mother, Patricia Michalski, Oak Harbor, WA; cousins, Patrick (Georgia) Sheil, Bob (Trudy) Sheil, Kansas City, MO and daughter, Tara.
Alan was born December 17, 1961 in Kansas City, KS and lived in Johnson County, KS his entire life. He attended Shawnee Mission North High School. Alan had many friends and business acquaintances and was the owner of Real Services in Johnson County.
Alan was irreverent, handsome, generous and an independent spirit. He never failed to make people laugh, feel welcome and help a person in need. He wanted us to enjoy life, recognize the importance of friends and live life to the fullest.
Alan’s stories inspired “no way!” comments from those who knew him, like his managing to get on a tour bus and backstage with a rock band, hosting SRO concerts (shout out to Presence!) and parties in his backyard. He was larger than life with hundreds of fabled experiences.
For a select few, Alan shared a quieter side of his personality. He loved the lake (Weatherby), boating, fishing and sunsets over the water. The man who wooed women with his prowess in the kitchen and his absolute skill in the art of persuasion found a love he’d never imagined, the most delightful surprise of his life, his daughter. “I wish I’d known how much I would love being a father, “ he’d say, “I love her so much.”
We miss you Alan, and remember you as a happy, fun loving guy whose style wasn't to rest in peace. Instead, as your friends have so dearly written, “blaze a new trail, Alan.”
Funeral and celebration of Alan’s life will take place Saturday, November 14, 4pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens
