Alan Anderson

October 1, 1949 — October 14, 2020

Olathe, Kansas

On Tuesday, October 14, at 2:19 AM, Alan A. Anderson lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.  He died peacefully in his sleep.  Alan was born in Moberly, Mo. to Robert Leroy Anderson and Anna Lee Anderson on October 1, 1949.

Alan is survived by his only child, Lorry Deanna Anderson, brother, Dr. William Anderson and his wife Jane Anderson, niece Angela Swift and husband Timothy Swift, children Samuel, Andrew, and Sarah Swift, nephew Aaron Anderson and wife Karen Anderson, children Sydney, Adam, and Joshua Anderson.

Alan graduated from Brunswick High School in 1967.  During his high school years, Alan was a member of the Track, Baseball, and Debate teams.  Alan attended Kansas University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1972.  After college, he worked for Equifax for many years, then completed  his career in business, while working with Rent-A-Center in Olathe.

Upon retirement in 2005, Alan spent time with  his daughter and his favorite dog Earnie.  He was extremely proud to have taught his daughter, Lorry,  the art of softball pitching.

Fellow classmates and family members referred to Alan as “DOC,”  a name he inherited from childhood.  Alan exhibited many of the same characteristics of the man called Doc in the TV series, Gunsmoke. His extensive knowledge of so many different areas of life allowed him to live a humble life with a “tad” bit of humor and “wisecracks.”
