Alan Heitschmidt

Alan 'Al' Heitschmidt, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. Alan was preceded in death by his father, Elbert; mother, Winnie; and brother, Bob. He is survived by his sister, Sherry; brother-in-law, Bill; nephews, Mike and Chris; sister-in-law, Pat; and goddaughter, Dominique.

Alan worked for the US Postal Service his entire career, however his legacy was the young people he mentored throughout his life. He loved all things KC sports and KU basketball.

In lieu of flowers, Alan's request was for any contributions to go to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his mother. Blessings to his physician team, his caregivers along the way, and in the end, to KC Hospice and Delmar Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 9 - 10 AM followed by a funeral service at 10 AM on Saturday, May 26th at Old Mission United Methodist Church, 5519 State Park Road, Fairway, Kansas. Graveside service to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
