Aleene Mabel Deal, 90, of Louisburg, KS passed away on August 20, 2017 at her daughter’s home.
Aleene was born February 4, 1927 in Chanute, KS to Bessie and Arthur Fulps. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1945 and moved to Washington DC to work at the VA Hospital as a medical record clerk. Washington is where she met the love of her life Marine James Elton Deal and married in 1946. They were married for 61 years before his passing in 2007.
They lived several places but finally landed in Overland Park, KS where she called home for 39 years. She then lived with her daughter the last 4 years of her life. Aleene was very dedicated to her family, always there to listen and advise anyone. She had a great sense of humor and a love of motorcycles, where at 89 she got to take a thrill ride on one. She was strong willed and stubborn when she wanted to be but loved her family endlessly.
Aleene is survived by her only child, Darcy Smith Hickey and son in law Phillip Hickey; grandson Dylan James Smith & wife Shawne, Denny Elliot & husband Brian, Molly Christensen. Great grandkids Ashley, Taylor, Gage, Morgan, Skylar and Quintin. Special family friend Kay and Josh Wampler, who meant the world to her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 25 from 10-11AM, service to being at 11AM, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Entombment to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
