Alice Askew

Alice Marie Askew, 83, of Leawood Kansas, died December 5, 2008 at St. Luke’s South Hospital. She was born on March 3, 1925 in El Dorado, KS to Benjamin Franklin and Cleo Louise Kendall. She graduated from Cimarron High School, Cimarron Ks., in 1941. She married Dorsey A. Askew on September 25, 1944 in Cimarron, KS. He survives.
Alice Marie and Al retired in Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1999 where they were active members of the Bella Vista Community Church. They returned to the Kansas City area in 2006 and reside in Leawood, KS. She loved gardening, singing, music, cooking, antiques, and spent many hours visiting shut- ins.
Other survivors include a son Douglas Askew and Jan Falk of Des Moines, Ia.; daughter Pamela Buster and husband Alan of Olathe, Ks.; son Thomas and Karen Askew of Olathe, Ks.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Betty Louise Windmiller of Chicago, Ill.; and eight nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas at 3:00 PM. Thursday, December 11, with visitation from 2-3 PM before the service. Memorials may be given to the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, AR, 72714. Interment will be Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Olathe, KS.
