Alice Hewitt

October 8, 1915 — July 8, 2009

Mrs. Alice Watts Hewitt of Leawood, Kansas, born October 8, 1915, was the widow of Col. John Marvin Hewitt, U.S. Army, Retired. Alice went home to be with her Lord, Jesus, on July 8, 2009 at 93 years young. She was a long-time residence of Johnson County, Kansas, having moved here from West Virginia in 1953, after her husband's service in the Korean War. Alice was, above all, a Christian lady, having served in Evangelism well into her 93rd year of life.

She is survived by her two sons, David Payne and John Hewitt, both of greater Kansas City, and her daughter Bethany Roderick of Fountain Run, Kentucky. Alice has 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She was admired for her delightful wit, compassionate heart, and enthusiastic anticipation of her heavenly graduation.

Visitation will be 10-10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A service will immediately follow at 10:30. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th Street, Overland Park, KS 66212. Arr.: D.W. Newcomer's Sons, 913.451.1860.
