Alice Fredine (Hale) Spaugh, 95, Overland Park, Ks passed away Friday August 7, 2015 at Sharon Lane Health Services. A visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00pm Tuesday August 11th at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A service to celebrate Alice’s life will be 11:00am Wednesday August 12th at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road. Private family graveside service will be at the Old Rugged Cross Mausoleum in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy, French Camp, MS, the Village Presbyterian Church or the donor’s favorite charity. Alice was born June 19, 1920 in Rankin, Illinois to Fred and Erma Bauer Hale. At an early age they moved to Gilman, Illinois where she attended elementary and high school. She graduated from Bradley University with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics and taught high school in Illinois, Missouri and Mississippi. She married John M. Spaugh on June 25, 1949 and together they were blessed with 2 children. They lived in Farmington, Missouri and moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1958, where they lived until moving to Overland Park in 1997. Alice was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and Village Presbyterian Church. She was active in Mission Sewing, Bible Class, volunteer work and served as President of the Women of the Church at Central Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS. Alice was a very devoted mother, an excellent cook and gifted seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years and her parents. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Henderson of Overland Park, KS and a son, Milton Spaugh of Atlanta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Katherine Henderson of Overland Park; and one niece, Mary Schrom Breese, St. Joseph, MO. The family is grateful to the staff at Sharon Lane Health Services and Vintage Park at Stanley for their loving care of their mother.
