Alma Mae (Shaffer) Shofstall, 96, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014, at her home of 64 years in Mission, KS.
Alma was born May 4, 1918, in York, PA, to Howard and Catherine Shaffer. She graduated from Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA in 1940, where she met her husband, William H. Shofstall, MD, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1992.
She was a member of Roeland Park United Methodist Church since 1950, where she was involved in many organizations through the years. She enjoyed traveling, reading the daily newspaper, her daily TV shows, sewing and gardening. She loved her family and her Savior Jesus Christ.
Alma is survived by her four children, James H. (Beverly) Shofstall, of Carterville, IL, Catherine A. (Richard) Santa, of Lake Winnebago, MO, Robert E. (Sharon) Shofstall, of Mission, KS and Nancy C. (Charles) Crompton, of Racine, WI; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Johnson County Chapel.
