Alvena Nora (Brecheisen) Knabe, 91, Olathe, KS passed away October 9, 2008.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 6306 Roe Blvd, Prairie Village, KS; private burial at Clearfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Knabe was born on June 30, 1917 to Henry and Addie Brecheisen and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from the University of Kansas and then taught in a one-room school. On June 9, 1940 she married Gerald Knabe. She is survived by her husband of 68 years; two daughters, Mary Knabe Buller (Craig) and Elizabeth Knabe Roe and a son, William Knabe (Sue). She leaves seven grandchildren; Nathan, Amanda, Laura, Elise, Anne, Lark and Amy and five great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her love of family including her many nieces and nephews; her love of books; her cake decorating business; her beautiful flower gardens; her love of cooking, sewing and knitting; and especially making beautiful quilts for all the grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all around the world. For many years, she was an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Knabe loved life, was quick to laugh and was generous and kind-hearted.
