Andrea Varney, 68, of San Mateo, passed away with her family at her side on November 5, of complications related to a recent diagnosis of cancer. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to be part of her life.
Andrea was born in Buffalo, New York, on August 23, 1940. She lived in Johnson County, Kansas, most of her life, and together with her husband, raised four children. They moved to California in 1997. She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and mentor. Andrea is survived by her loving husband, Don, of 46 years.
She leaves behind two daughters, Christy and Amy, and two sons, Brian and Stephen. Also known as Nana, she was adored by her nine grandchildren. While she meant so much to all of us, we rejoice in knowing she is in God's kingdom.
A memorial service will be held in Kansas City at Old Mission United Methodist Church, 5519 State Park Road, Fairway, KS 66205, on Monday, November 24, at noon.
