Fern Shepherd of Overland Park passed-away Wednesday Feb. 4th, 2009 at the age of 77. Visitation will be held Monday, February 9 from 10:00-11:00 am at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe, Leawood, KS. Funeral service will be at 11:00 Monday at the church.
She was born July 5th, 1931 in Alpine, Arkansas the daughter of Fletcher and Vera Boyd. She was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood. Fern's greatest joy was spending her time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering her free time at her church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jess Shepherd in 2008, and her son Bruce Shepherd in 2000.
Fern leaves behind son, Steve Shepherd and wife, Diane of Holden, MO.; son, Shawn Shepherd and wife Carrie, of Overland Park. She had three grandchildren, Bruce's daughter, Stephanie Shepherd, Steve's daughter, Jessica Staub of Olathe, and Shawn's son, Brett Shepherd of Overland Park.
