Anita Ida Helmick, 86, of Leawood, Kansas passed away May 16, 2019 at Advent Shawnee Mission
Medical Center surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Anita was born to Jack
and Gladys Pringle in Kansas City, Kansas August 29, 1932. On July 1, 1950, she married HW
Helmick (Commerce, OK) who she was married to for 51 years. Anita graduated from Argentine High
School in 1950. She worked at Harcros Chemicals Inc. as an Administrative Assistant until she retired
in 1997. Anita is survived by her three children, Dan Helmick (Linda), Lori Poje (Phil), Rick Helmick
(Mary), seven grandchildren, Emily Helmick (32), Abby Helmick (29), Kyle Poje (27), Grant Poje (24)
(Michelle), Hannah Poje (21), Harrison Helmick (26), Heath Helmick (22) and two siblings, Geraldine
Croom (Carl), and Judy Burgess (Larry). She was preceded in death by her husband HW Helmick and
3 siblings, Deloss Pringle, Teddy Pringle, Larry Pringle and 1 grandson, Joshua Alan Poje.
Anita was a devout Christian. She read her Bible daily, always counting her blessings which was
evident by a full Blessings Jar and was known to keep a daily prayer list. She was a meticulous
housekeeper and baker. Her chocolate and banana cream pies were a family favorite and will be dearly
missed at holidays. She enjoyed watching and listening to the news staying up-to-date on current
events. She always enjoyed a healthy lifestyle enabling her to do the things she loved, yard work,
flower garden and walking. For many years she attended Turner Baptist Church in KCK. Recently she
had been attending the Abundant Harvest Church and was visited often by Pastor Don Phillips and his
wife. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Abundant Harvest Church 4830 Shawnee Dr, Kansas

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm Tuesday May 21, 2019 with funeral service to be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Johnson County Funeral Chapel 11200 Metcalf Ave.
