Ann Spicer Kroh, longtime resident of the Leawood, KS area, passed away peacefully at home on March 8th surrounded by family.
She was born in Lexington, KY to Carey and Nettie Spicer, their youngest of six children. She attended Henry Clay High School and the University of Kentucky where she was an active member of Alpha Z Delta sorority.
Ann was married to Delbert L. Paffenbach before his death in 1960. In 1964 she married Clifford Eugene Kroh. Ann had a passion for golf, bridge, and any card game. She was a member of Blue Hills Country Club, chairing the Gibson Girl Classic and accomplishing two holes in ones in that event. She was also a longtime member of Leawood South Country Club, developed by her husband Gene Kroh. She organized their nine and eighteen hole ladies organization, Guys and Dolls, and followed by the Daisy Classic, which is still on going.
She was a member of Johnson County Young Matrons, Leawood Welcoming, Leawood Women’s Club, and the Colonial Congregational Church.
Ann is survived by her three daughters Carol Paffenbach, Sue Callahan (Michael), Debbie Curttright (Anthony). Grandchildren Molly, Michael, Michelle, Leslie, and Matthew. Great granddaughter Calissa and sister-in-law’s Lois Elbel and Mardell Henry.
She will be dearly missed and was a large part of all our lives. A private memorial service was
held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Kansas City Hospice.
