Anne K. Sawyer, 91, Lenexa, Kansas passed away Monday, February 18, 2008.
Anne was born July 15, 1916 to Michael and Margaret Magdick in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended St. Johns School and married Albert Yarmek in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1939. After one year of study at a business college she worked at North American Aviation. This is where Anne met her husband Milo Sawyer; Milo was general foreman and she was his secretary. They were married in 1944. When North American Aviation closed after the war Anne worked in that company as a bookkeeper. After more than 20 years Milo sold the company and began working for General Motors. Anne then worked for other companies as bookkeeper and Inventory Control Clerk. Anne belonged to American Business Women of America, The Westwood Women's Club and St. Agnes Catholic Church. For many years she actively enjoyed golf, tennis and bowling. She enjoyed the bowling tournaments and traveling with her team. In recent years Anne moved to Lakeview Village where she made many friends. She remained active volunteering in the What Not Shop and learning to play Bridge.
Anne was preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Magdick and Catherine Williams, brother Michael Magdick, nephew, Michael Magdick, great niece Lynn Steely, and her beloved husband of 49 years, Milo Sawyer. Anne is survived by one daughter Deborah Saroff and her husband Steve; two grandchildren Grant Haun and Lauren Haun; one brother John Magdick and his wife Eileen; four nieces: Betty Steely, Trish Clark, Linda Leedy and Mary Magdick.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, February 22 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 23 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road. Interment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
