Anna Jeanette Jay ?Neat?, 91, passed to Heaven on December 1, 2007.
She was born to James Lester and Flora Ellen Fizzell on November 25, 1916. She graduated from Paseo High School and Huffs Business College. It was during her high school years that she accepted Jesus as her Savior. ?Neat? met Thomas Griffy Jay on Easter morning at Linwood Presbyterian Church. During this period her father, James Lester Fizzell, was an associate Pastor at Trinity Methodist Church. She and Tom were married in 1938 at Trinity Methodist Church. They celebrated 61 years of marriage. ?Neat? loved music and even wrote songs that were played on WDAF radio station. She and Tom were separated for several years by WWII, as he was over seas serving in the military. Mrs. Jay was an early entrepreneur and started many successful businesses. She was also a great real estate sales broker and co owner of Jay?s Better Homes and Gardens Realtors. She enthusiastically enjoyed hosting parties and entertaining, competitively playing cards with family and friends, sewing, art and shopping. She loved her grandchildren and family dearly and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas. She is survived by her two daughters, Carroll ?C Jay? Boylan and Dianne Jay Weaver; seven grandchildren, Mark, Margie, Amy, Jay, Jenny, Scott and Elizabeth and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 7 at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Burial to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. ?Neat? made a neat difference in people?s lives.
