ANNA DAY McKENNA GEORGE
Anna Day McKenna George of Leawood, Kansas, passed away September 27, 2010. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and long-time friends. Anna Day was born on September 15, 1910, to John and Stella McKenna and was a lifetime resident of the Kansas City, Kansas area. She was a member of Epworth Roanoke United Methodist Church for 95 years. For 50 of those years she taught Sunday school. She was a long time participant in the Westport Roanoke Golden Age Club. Anna Day was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Diane Calahan Smith, and husbands, Jack Calahan, Art Monroe, Virgil Skaggs and Lloyd George. Survivors include a son Rocky J. Calahan and his wife Dona of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter Gloria S. Stephenson and her husband Roger of Platteville, Wisconsin; three step-sons Douglas Skaggs, Neosho, Missouri; Paul Calahan, Independence, Missouri and Walter Calahan, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and grandchildren Trevor Stephenson, Madison, Wisconsin; Dyne Stephenson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; R. Lawrence Calahan and Richard Calahan of Kansas City, Missouri. She proudly talked about her six great grandchildren (Derek, Brandi, Nation, Emily, Henry and Dillon) and two great-great grandchildren (Logan and Ava).
As per Anna Day’s request there will be no visitation or services and memorial donations may be made to her favorite charity, RESTART, Inc., 918 East 9th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106, Attention: Jennifer. (816-472-5664) Cremation is planned with burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park.
