Anna Rose

September 3, 1920 — December 14, 2013

Anna passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Garden Terrace at Overland Park
with her husband at her side. She was born on September 3, 1920 on a farm near Queen
City, MO to Victor and Louise Slaughter. She attended grade school there and graduated
from Queen City High School in 1938. For a few years she was employed at the County
Courthouse in Lancaster, MO. After the start of WW II she had the desire to move to Kansas City, MO. to work and was employed at The Boy Scouts of America Office as a secretary under the direction of Mr. H. Roe Bartle. She also, received some business education at the Kansas City Business College. She later was employed as a secretary at the Kansas City Southern R. R. where she met and married her husband, Leonard E. Rose on December 7, 1947 and worked there until l952. She was later employed at The Shawnee Mission North High School as a secretary, until her retirement in 1986. She was at the front desk at Shawnee Mission North High School as the receptionist. Her responsibilities included greeting everyone who came to the front desk, answering the telephone and scheduling all of the events within the school. Everyone who came to the office knew "Mrs. Rose" through her smiling face. Shortly after her retirement she was a volunteer worker for 22 years at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Anna was a very active member of the Missouri Chapter IV, PEO Sisterhood for over 50 years and a member of the Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. She was, also, an injured survivor of the Hyatt Hotel Tragedy in Kansas City, MO in July l981.

Preceding her in death were her parents and 6 siblings, Ruth Western of Greentop, MO;
Joe Slaughter of Overland Park, KS; Saline Gafney of Prairie Village, KS; Junior
Slaughter of Queen City, MO; Martha Edwards of Mission, KS and Julia Bolton of
Chesterfield, MO.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard E. Rose. Also, a daughter, Vicki Schoeb (Bill) of Shawnee, KS and a son, Daniel E. Rose (Kay) of Overland Park, KS. Her 6 grandchildren include, Haley Endacott of Fayetteville, AK; Adam Hutchison of Pittsburgh, PA; Tyler Hutchison of Overland Park, KS; Emily Schoeb of Independence, MO; Elizabeth Rose of Overland Park, KS and Julia Rose of Overland Park, KS as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Cooper Endacott. Also, surviving are many loving family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank Garden Terrace and all those who provided professional, compassionate cared for Anna. Memorials in remembrance of Anna can be made to Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 beginning with a visitation at 10
a.m. at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church¸ 9300 Nall Ave. Overland Park, KS. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. with a graveside service immediately following at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. All are invited to attend a reception at The Atriums, 7300 107th St. Overland Park, KS after the graveside service.
