Anna Stoddard

Anna Gomes Stoddard

July 31, 1947 – April 19, 2020

Anna Gomes Stoddard, 72, of Overland Park, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Anna passed peacefully in her sleep at home.

Anna was born the youngest of nine children in Pittsfield, MA, to Charles Gomes and Anna Braz Gomes, who immigrated from Madeira (Portugal). She graduated from Bishop Cassidy Memorial High School in Taunton, MA in 1966 and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. Anna successfully served twenty-five years as the Office Manager and Corporate Secretary for the family business, Infinity Fasteners, before retiring in 2015.

Anna was a caring, compassionate person who always took time to get to know others and show interest in their lives. She was beloved by many co-workers, neighbors, friends, and her children’s friends.

Anna loved her family more than anything. She married Robert Bell Stoddard on May 18, 1968, in Pawtucket, RI and had two children: Kristen Elizabeth Stoddard and Robert Bell Stoddard, Jr.

The Stoddard family loved RVing together and getting into the occasional Griswold-like mishap, including accidentally depositing their tow-vehicle, a 1982 Mustang GT with four bikes on the roof, in a cornfield in southwest Missouri; and severing the cable TV line for an entire campground in Lake George, NY. Despite the intermittent misadventures, the Stoddards were incredibly blessed to enjoy many wonderful travels together around America.

Anna also dearly loved the many dogs and granddogs that brought so much joy into her life over the last 30 years: Bart, Sheaks, Mups, Brodie, Chloe, George, Lexi, Snickers, Zoey, Jacy, Stella, Roger, and Loosey.

Anna is survived by her husband, daughter, son, daughter-in-law (Brianna), two sisters (Elizabeth, Carol) and brother (Lionel).
