Annabelle (Ann) O’Neil, 80, passed away peacefully Friday, February 21, 2020 in Overland Park, KS.
Annabelle was born November 13, 1939 in Superior, Wisconsin, to Morris and Pauline (Brizer) Weiss. She graduated from Superior High School and earned an education degree from Wisconsin State College–Superior. Later in life she set an example for her children and grandchildren by earning a master’s degree in education from Wichita State University. She taught in public schools throughout her career and ultimately retired after teaching special education for many years at Wichita North High School. She loved teaching and had many fond memories of the students and staff she formed relationships with over the years.
She was married to her husband John (Jack) O’Neil for 52 years prior to his death in 2014. Before settling in Wichita, Jack’s job required frequent relocations and she lovingly juggled her teaching career and raising three sons while moving around the Mountain West and Midwest.
Annabelle was a longtime member of Congregation Emanu-El in Wichita and was active in the local Sisterhood. She practiced yoga for many years and enjoyed spending time with her Mahjong and investment club friends.
She is survived by her sons, Greg (Norma) of Overland Park, Morrie, of Arlington, VA, and Dwight of Overland Park; grandchildren, Hannah and Sofia O’Neil; sister, Ethel (Weiss) Cich, of St. Paul, MN; aunt, Pauline Brizer of Superior, WI and many nieces and nephews.
