Annie Laurie Vernon Newcomer passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 20th, 2016. She was born to parents Virginia and Roy Senior on February 8th 1932 and was raised in California, Missouri. She attended college at Central Missouri State University, where she obtained a home economics degree, and in later years, a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. She raised four children and was preceded in death by their father, Dr. James Harlan Vernon. A mentor to many, she assisted students in selecting careers and colleges while also continuing to cultivate her first love of cooking and sewing for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, William "Billy" Senior. She leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Dr. Arthur Newcomer, brother Roy "Bud" Senior (Virginia) and stepdaughters Kristine Geise (Rick) and Cara Mehrer (Steve). Annie's children are Jim Vernon (Sue), Christy Berger (Ron), Blake Vernon (Molly) and Janelle Bellamy (Neal). Beloved grandchildren and step-grandchildren include Michelle, Scott, Matthew, Thomas, Katie, Jennifer, Rebecca, Stephen, Austin, James, Matthew, Steven, Trey, and Annika. Great grandchildren include Owen, Luke, Stratton, Brady, And Halle.
