Arline Borcherding

Arline Borcherding, age 88, of Flower Mound, TX passed away 12/5/2018.  Private Services will be held for the family.

Arline’s life was filled with creativity, volunteering, traveling, and genealogy research for her family.  She led a very full and long life.  Arline and Norman were married on 2/14/50.  Dad preceded Mom in death in 2009.  They raised three children: Pamela, Barbara and David.  We all miss Robert who died shortly after birth.

The activities in her life reflected who she was.  Her creative side was shown to us in her passion for artwork - tole painting, counted cross-stitch and quilting.   We all benefited from these projects.  She tole painted everything in sight.  Her counted cross-stitch included Christmas stockings for the grandkids, Norman Rockwall pictures, decorative pillows.  Mom won ribbons for her quilting at the Kansas State Fair, created beautiful quilted jackets and vests and made a number of quilts for the family.

Mom and Dad traveled throughout the US, which also included trips outside the US to Ireland, England, France, Germany.

The next chapter in her life was devoted to volunteering for many good causes.  Here is a list of some of her volunteering activities and some of the recognitions she received:

*20 years of Service – National Archives – Central Plains Region
*Auxiliary Board for St. Joseph Hospital – Doctor’s Library – 500 hours
*Advisory Committee for RSVP of Johnson County, KS Volunteer Service
*2000-2005 - Johnson County Junior College Executive Board, Brown and Gold Club
*2007 – 2010 - Johnson County Library Genealogy Volunteer
*Daughters of the American Revolution, Community of Service
*Grapevine Public Library Genealogy Volunteer, Grapevine, TX
*1998-1999 – Cancer Institute of Health Midwest Volunteer Services

The last of her many accomplishments was the genealogy research done on the Doty family going back eight generations.   As a result of this research, Mom was able to apply for and become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

And her legacy lives on through:  3 children, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and those yet to be named…
