Mr. Arnold Martinsen

Arnold H. (Arnie) Martinsen, passed away on November 6, 2014 at Center Point Lakeview Village.
He was born on July 8, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN son of A.B and Lil Martinsen. He attended St. Olaf College prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps to serve in World War II. Upon completion of his Army service, he entered the University of MN where he received both his undergraduate BSL and his Doctorate of Law degree.
In 1951 he married Fran Myers. They lived in Minneapolis until 1963 when Arnie accepted a position with Hallmark Cards. The remainder of his career was spent with Hallmark.
His many interests included being an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, traveling, bridge groups, crossword puzzles and golf. Arnie also served on a number of committees and was a dedicated supporter of the American Cancer Society, Kansas City Hospice Palliative care.
His dry wit and sense of humor always added a dose of laughter or groans to his puns.
Arnie is preceded in death by son, Peter and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Fran Martinsen; daughter, Patty (Gary) Dykman; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Martinsen; three grandchildren, Molly Dykman, Ben (Nicole) Dykman, Abigail Martinsen and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 AM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7851 W. 119th St. Overland Park, KS, 66213.  A reception will follow at the church.
Family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Kansas City Hospice Palliative Care or Center Point at Lakeview.
