Arthur Albert (Art) Croy born November 18, 1917, died November 22, 2016
Mr. Croy was born in Harper County, near Laverne, Oklahoma to Gilbert F. and Mintie May Fisher Croy. The family resided for the most part in Northern Missouri.
Art was married to Esther N. Hieronymus at Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene June 13, 1941. They moved to San Francisco, California where Art worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad as a carpenter and then trainman. After Pearl Harbor he transferred to the Shipyard where he was a lead man shipwright.
They returned to Kansas City in 1944 where Art owned a painting and construction company. He built an addition to Central Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, KS, and later supervised the construction of the new Central Church on 18th Street in Kansas City, KS. He also built a College building for the Church of God Holiness in Overland Park, KS and a Dining Hall and a Tabernacle building for the Kansas City District Center. In 1948 he accepted the position of Engineer at the Nazarene Publishing House. About a year later he was promoted to the position of Circulation Manager. In 1960 he resigned to become a Realtor and Developer. He retired in 1973. After a year of relaxation in Florida and at the Lake of the Ozarks, he volunteered his services as an Estate Planner for the next 12 years for the General Church of the Nazarene raising millions of dollars for the church and colleges. Art and Esther had two Children, Ester Elaine Croy Haughey and Daniel Albert Croy. His daughter, Elaine, and his wife, Esther, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Daniel and his wife Kay, four grandchildren Kasey Johnson and her husband Matt, Nathan Croy and his wife Catherine, John Haughey and his wife Penny, and Paul Haughey and his wife Ellen, and nine great grandchildren.
