Arthur James

Arthur B. James, 77, Leawood, passed away August 5, 2020.  Arthur was born April 29, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up here.   He went to Northwestern University for his bachelor’s Degree and completed his master’s degree at the University of California at Berkeley.  He served during the Vietnam War and was a Lieutenant when he was honorably discharged.   Art also earned a Bronze Star in Vietnam.  He then lived in Chicago for 25 years and worked at the Zenith Company for 23 years and retired as Comptroller in 1995.  When he married Becky in 1999, they made their home in the Kansas City area.   Arthur is survived by his wife of 20 years, Becky; two stepchildren:  Greg Russell(Marybeth) and Christine Wall(Scott); brother Philip James (Sharon); cousin, Susan Daffer; nephews: Eric James (Jen) and Kevin James(Monica); one niece, Kirstin James; four step-grandchildren:  Lexi Minahan (Nathan), Claudia Wall (Brent Windsor), Jessica Russell and Ryan Russell.  Arthur enjoyed swimming every day for the past 19 years.  A private family graveside will be on Friday at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to City Union Mission, Doctors Without Borders or Wayside Waifs.
