B. Spencer Henry, 90, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Spencer was born November 21, 1922, in Bay City, MI, to William and Freda (Weber) Henry. He married Lola Jane Lyon, on May 19, 1945. Spencer attended Duke University prior to his service in the Army and graduated from the University of Michigan in business administration in 1948. He worked for W.W. Henry Real Estate in Bay City and Russell Stover Candies in Kansas City. Spencer and Lola Jane owned Suzanne's Hallmark in Burlington, VT, for several years. He was a dedicated Royals and Tigers baseball fan. Spencer had a great sense of humor, was a cut throat Scrabble player and loved his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lola Jane and his son, Jeffrey Spencer Henry.
Spencer is survived by his son, Richard (Judith) Henry, of Norman, OK; daughter-in-law, Nancy Henry Cummings; six grandchildren, Renée Henry Gosserand, Robin Henry, Russell Henry, Brandon Henry, Rebecca Henry and Ryan Henry; and several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 16731 Springdale Rd, Leavenworth, KS. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Plains SPCA, 5428 Antioch Dr, Merriam, KS 66202 and Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
