Barbara Jean Allmand

Barbara Jean Allmand was born to Leslie E. Allmand and Alice Rachel Smith Allmand on March 25, 1935, in Huntley, NE. The family later moved to Holdrege, Nebraska where she attended school graduating from Holdrege High School with the Class of 1953. After two years at Kearney State College she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to attend medical technology training at St. Lukes Hospital. After graduation she worked at the hospital for 6 years in the medical technology lab. She also taught students from all over the world who after graduating returned to their native countries to work as medical technologists. Barbara then took a position at Westport Internal Medicine of Kansas City, working for three doctors as their technologist and office manager where she retired after 30 years.

 Barbara passed away on January 4, 2024, in Overland Park, KS after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Les and Rachel Allmand, sister and brother-in-law, Etta (Allmand) and Melvin Borden, two nephews: Rob Borden and Jamie Borden, a very close longtime friend, Rita Bryan, plus other relatives and friends. 

She is survived by her niece, Susan Borden Strong of Lincoln, NE; her great-niece Heidi Strong Stodola, her husband Marc Stodola, Heidi’s son Dylan Nielsen and Marc’s children Courtney, Ally, and Brady Stodola of Elkhorn, NE; her nephew Don Borden and wife DeAnn; great-niece Celeste Borden Daggy, her husband Micah Daggy and Great-great Niece Acelia Daggy of Colorado; great nephew Michael Borden and wife Anjuli and three great-great-nieces Piper, Summer, and Emma Borden of Colorado; cousin Roger Allmand and his wife, Marlis of Holdrege and their family; Nola Allmand Campbell and her family; and Steve Allmand and wife, Doreen and their family. Also, a very special friend for almost 40 years, Hollie Resseguie and her husband, Tracy of Kansas City. Plus, many more extended relatives and friends.

 A celebration of Life will be held at 10 Am Saturday July 27, 2024, with burial at Prairie Home Cemetery, 2221 18th Ave., Holdrege, Nebraska, followed by fellowship and a light lunch in the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church, 604 West Ave., Holdrege.
