Barbara Elizabeth Baker, 78, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Neuvant House of Lawrence. She was born January 22, 1942, to Dorothy (Delfs) and Donald Baker. After spending her young years in Clay Center, Kansas, the family moved to Portland, Oregon. After high school graduation, she spent her career working as an Information and Operation Services specialist with the phone company, where she received the Presidential Award for her 35 years of service. Upon retirement, she moved to Ormond Beach, Florida, and later to Lawrence, Kansas. She enjoyed gardening, the mountains and beaches of Oregon, traveling, reading, embroidery, and watching KU Jayhawks basketball and KC Royals baseball games. She devoted much of her time and energy as the caregiver to her beloved mother and sisters.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew: Teresa (John) Bourcet, Henderson, NV; Debra (Larry) Leveque, Lakewood, CA; Carol O’Malley, Jacksonville, FL; James Michael Martin, Kettering, OH; Brenda Ryals, Jacksonville, FL; Shannon O’Cain, Mims, FL.; and many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna L. O’Malley and Marjory F. O'Cain; and nephew, Brenton L. Martin.
