Mrs. Barbara Manna

Barbara Jane Manna, age 66, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at KU Medical Center. She was born on May 26, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Jane (McCarty) and James Unangst. Barbara graduated from High School in 1962 then from Sewickley, PA College of Nursing in 1965 and worked as a registered nurse at KU Medical Center for 35 years. Prior to working at KU, she was a nurse at five other hospitals, two of which were VA Hospitals while her husband, Ronald, served in the United States Army. Barbara enjoyed golf, playing bridge, quilting and playing in the hand bell choir at her church, The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, in which she was a member. Barbara married Ronald A. Manna in Pittsburgh, PA in 1965, he survives her.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; three sons, Mark (Priti Lakhani) Manna of Lawrence, KS, Michael (Jennifer) Manna of Olathe, KS and David (Dawn) Manna of Littleton, CO; two sisters, Kathy (Jim) Brede and Debbie Hein; one brother, Robert Unangst and five grandchildren, Paul Manna, Jacob Manna, Ellie Manna, Anthony Manna and Andrew Manna. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Dinner will follow the service and will be held at St. Andrew’s Golf Course, 11099 W. 135th St, Overland Park, KS 66221. A private inurnment will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens indoor Courtyard of Memories. Memorial contributions may be made to University of Kansas Cancer Center, 3901 Rainbow Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66160.
