Barbara A. Trautman, 77 died June 8, 2012 in Olathe KS.
Barbara was born January 31, 1935 to Dolph and Etha Okenfuss in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
An accomplished pianist and cellist, Barbara earned a degree in music from Southeast Missouri State University. She fostered this passion throughout her life first as a high school music teacher, then as a choir director at St. Richards' Catholic Church for over 25 years. She continued sharing her love of music as an elementary school teacher and by instructing private piano lessons for more than 40 years.
Barbara expressed her compassion for others through volunteer efforts with numerous church and civic organizations.
Affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Nana", Barbara was happiest when surrounded by family. This of course, included travels around the world with her sister Janet.
Barbara Trautman is survived by her sister Janet Abts, daughter, Vicki Service, her two sons, Craig and David Trautman, and 6 grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 W. 87th Street, Overland Park, KS, 66212.
