Bernard Patrick (Bernie) “Bo” Grannan, 88, of Shawnee, Kansas, formerly of Emporia, Kansas passed away on April 17, 2010 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 1:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS, 66207. Burial will follow in the Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens in Shawnee, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22nd from 6-8 pm at D.W. Bernard Patrick Grannan was born on October 27, 1921 in Kansas City, MO. He was a WWII Veteran. Bernard was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia, KS, member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Bernard enjoyed singing in Barbershop quartets. He worked for Dolly Madison Bakery for 40 years, before retiring in 1986.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret “Momo” Grannan; and his father, Clement Grannan; infant children, Linda Donnell (1949), baby boy & Denise Michelle (1954); niece, Maureen; nephews, Patrick and Lucky; and grandniece, Nici. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Donna Grannan; son, Dennis Grannan, St. David, AZ; daughter, Robin Hursh (husband Norman), Lenexa, KS; granddaughter, Christi Zweygardt (husband Dillan); grandson, Brandon Hursh; brother, Bede (Red) Grannan, Mt. Pleasant, SC; and sister, Margaret Ruckh (husband Bernie), Overland Park, KS. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
