Bess Griffith

Bess Griffith, age 86, of Leawood, Kan., died July 6, 2010. Bess was born March 9, 1924, in Kittle, Ark., to John and Minnie Gunter, the oldest of seven children. She married Woody Griffith in 1950 and together they had four daughters. They owned and operated Mission Glass Service until his death in 1970. Bess also worked at the American Heart Association, Overland Park Regional Hospital and for the Kansas City Royals. She was a Royals fan and avid reader. Survivors include daughters, Mary Rohr and her husband Dale of Leawood, and Nancy Phillips of Overland Park, Kan., and Becky Yates and her husband Steve of Idaho Falls, Idaho, son-in-law, Bob Hinton of Tulsa, Okla., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger Hinton of Tulsa, Okla. Funeral Service and burial will be private at the family's request. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, KS 64145.
