Betsy Denk, 92, of Shawnee Mission, KS died November 24, 2007.
Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202, with funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard P. Denk and son, Daniel B. Denk. Survivors include her son, Gregory P. Denk (Ann) of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Rochelle Silvers (Jim) of Olathe, KS; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Betsy was born May 22, 1915 in Odessa, MO. She worked in the garment industry until retirement, after which she cared for many small children until age 89. She became somewhat of a surrogate grandmother to many of those little ones and considered many of those families to be hers. She was passionate about antiques and her hobby was garage sales. Her love for God and her family was the focus of her life. She never forgot a birthday of any of her children, their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces or nephews. She took great joy in picking out the perfect gift, wrapping and mailing them even until last week. Her tenacity and spunk were her trademarks.
