Betty Joan (Foster) Barber, 83, of Lenexa, KS, beloved wife of John (Jack) Barber for almost 67 years, went to her heavenly home on January 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept 8, 1932 in Kansas City, KS. She was the last surviving child of 12 children of Isaac (Ike) P. Foster and Lula Inez (Painter) Foster. She was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, and daughter Christina M. Nick of the home, sons Patrick S. (Linda) Barber of Shawnee, KS, John P. (Shelley) Barber of Wichita, KS, and six grandchildren, Christopher (Molly) Nick, Stephen Nick, John Perry Barber, Michael Barber, Lauren Barber, and Jamie (Pat) Geraghty. She also leaves five great-grandchildren: John Preston Barber II, Tyler Nick, Allie Nick, McCoy Geraghty, and Cassidy Geraghty.
Betty worked in food service her entire life, and enjoyed spending time with family, growing flowers, collecting dolls and plates, and crocheting.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 22 from 6PM-8PM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 23 at 11am, also at Johnson County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 13901 S Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS 66062.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Olathe Hospice House, 15310 S Marion St, Olathe, KS 66061.
