Betty F. Britton, 82, Kansas City, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, October 18, 2009 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will begin an hour prior to service times, also at the chapel. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to your favorite charity. Betty was born September 28, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a long time resident of Brookside. She was the daughter of Rose and Frank Lipari, Jr., the founder of Italian Gardens Restaurant downtown Kansas City. She also worked for the family restaurant. Betty was a graduate of University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana and also attended master’s classes at Columbia University in New York.
One of Betty’s favorite things to do was dining at all of the local restaurants. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery books. She was also very fond of animals and loved to visit the Kansas City Zoo.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son, Eric Collins; daughter, Lisa Goldman; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Rose.
