Betty Jane Elliott (Bliss), 88, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away February 11, 2015. Betty was born in Greeley, Colorado on October 23, 1926, the daughter of Elmer E. and Dora A. Bliss. Her life in Greeley was spent on the family farm northeast of the city. She attended Pleasant Valley Rural School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1944. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She attended Colorado State Teacher's College until 1947 when she moved to Kansas City to be with E. J. and Lucy Remley who were the choir director and organist at Westport Presbyterian Church. She sang in their choir for many years. She loved to sing. She enrolled at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music and was pledged to Mu Phi Epsilon sorority. While at the Conservatory she met her future husband, John Elliott. They were married in 1950. In March of 1949, she was employed by Trans World Airlines as an accountant and remained there until her retirement in 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; her eldest brother Kenneth Bliss; and by her niece Brenda Reynolds. She is survived by her brother James Bliss of Colorado Springs; nephews Rockie Bliss, Dirk Bliss and James Hablutzel; niece Jeannie Hubbard, and great nephews and nieces.
An inurnment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens during a private service. It was Betty’s request that no flowers or other memorials be sent.
