Betty G. Roy, 88, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed away January 27, 2011, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, following a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011, at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Betty and her twin brother, Bobby D. Adams, were born September 27, 1922, in Springfield, Missouri, to Cyrus and Carrie Adams. The family moved to Lenexa, Kansas, in 1939. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1940. She married Robert F. Roy on October 2, 1964. They lived in Overland Park, Kansas, until 1981, when they retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where Betty enjoyed playing bridge and reading. Betty was a member of the Bella Vista Christian Church and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Roy of the home; step-son Jim Roy and wife Bev of Paola, Kansas; step-daughter Deborah R. Roy of Overland Park, Kansas; 2 sisters-in-law, Grace Adams of Springfield, Missouri, and Marcia Roy of Overland Park, Kansas; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and 5 nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Bella Vista Christian Church, 103 Riordan Road, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72715.
