Betty J. Reese, 81, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014.
Betty was born September 26, 1932, in Detroit, MI, to Samuel MacGowan of Scotland and Essie E Miles of California. She graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit and acculated additional college units at Johnson County Junior College over the years. She retired from the City of Overland Park after 25 years as manager of payroll and pensions. She loved her job, gardening and her animals, especially her roommate, Suzie, the Britney Spaniel and love of her life.
Betty is survived by her three children, Carol A. (William) Kelly, Charles A. Reese, Jr. and Christopher A. (Marca) Reese; eight grandchildren, Tyson, Eric, Kendall, Louis "Cole" and Cailey Reese, Patrick and Michael Kelly, Melissa (Jared) Myers; seven great grandchildren, Caden, Brody, Avery, Carson, Owen, Colton Reese and Jade Myers; sister, Joan Chrisco; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. A private family inurnment will follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens – Indoor Garden of Memories, Overland Park.
