Betty Ann Smith

Betty Ann Smith, 91, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. 

Betty was born on December 31, 1932, to Ivan and Bessie (Bailey) Maddox in Kansas City, Kansas. 

In 1952, Betty married Wyon Smith in Shawnee, Kansas. Betty and Wyon went on to have two daughters, Luella, and Viola.  They celebrated 52 years of marriage before Wyon passed away in August 2004. 

Betty was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Shawnee. She enjoyed traveling to Branson with Wyon and her family. Betty made her house a home full of love for all who entered. On most occasions you could find Betty’s childhood friends and loved ones gathered around the table playing cards. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, loving personality, and joy she brought to all those she met. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wyon, and great grandson, Darick Crosley. 

Betty is survived by her children: Luella (Dennis) Morris and Viola (Warren) Day; and a sister, Lillian Rader; grandchildren: Tracy (Daryl) Crosley, Warren (Cari) Day, Stephanie (Sean Pertzborn) Day, Nathan (Jordan Murphy) Morris, Michael Day, Eric Day, and Matthew (Holly) Day. Betty also leaves behind eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
