Our beloved mom and grandma, Beverly Joan Smith, age 83, peacefully left her family home for her true home with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, March 26th, 2023.
Beverly was born on April 24th, 1939, in Mason City, Iowa. She was the second of two daughters born to Ethan and Wilmyrth Smith. The Smith's moved a couple times in her childhood before settling in Prairie Village, Kansas.
At age 16, she trusted Jesus as her Savior and thereafter, throughout her lifetime, boldly shared with countless others her love for Christ and God's plan for Salvation. Jesus was her first love. Near the end of her life, Beverly declared "Jesus is EVERYTHING."
In 1958, at age 19, she married her true love, Jack Smith. They had three children who were her joy! Being a housewife and raising her children fulfilled her heart's desire.
She enjoyed flowers, decorating, and making their home beautiful, warm, and inviting. When the children were young, she held "Good news clubs" where neighbor children, along with her own, were invited to hear Bible stories, songs, and the message of Jesus. She also taught Sunday School.
Being a grandmother was her true delight. She said, “Having my first grandchildren opened my heart to a love I had never known.” Throughout the years, she treasured each grandchild and was very involved in loving and helping out with their families.
Throughout her life she was an integral part of a local body of Christian believers, loving and serving the Lord and each other well and serving Jesus together. Bible study, prayer, counseling, and worshipping Jesus were all so important to her.
Beverly will be most remembered for her bright smile, loving and generous ways, encouraging words, welcoming spirit, and genuine, deep faith. Her tender heart and compassion helped people at times of great need. The impact she has had on so many will continue on bearing fruit for Jesus. She will be remembered fondly and deeply missed, until we see her again!
Loved ones who remain are her sister Barbara Walker, her children Seth Smith, Stephanie (Brad) Roberts, Stacy (Larry) Rawlings, her eighteen grandchildren and their spouses, her twelve great grandchildren, 13th and 14th great grand babies to be born this year- and many more to come.
