Bill D. Weldon, 87, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully, Monday, September 3, 2007 at Kansas City Hospice House, with family at his side. Memorial service will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, September 8, at Grand Court, 6101 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Private burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice or Cancer Action. Mr. Weldon was born June 27, 1920 in Kansas City, MO and lived in the area all of his life, except for 16 years when his business took him to Tulsa, OK. He worked 37 years for Skelly and Getty Oil Company as a design engineer, until retirement in 1984. Mr. Weldon graduated form Paseo High School, attended Westminster College, and graduated from the University of Kansas. He was a member of Kappa Alpha and Theta Tau Fraternities. He was an Eagle Scout and belonged to the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was also a member of the Order of DeMolay and served in the Army-Air Force during WWII. Bill left a legacy of love and compassionate service to his family, friends and community, including volunteering with the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels during his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Seiler Weldon; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Mark Wendlandt, and Cathy and Jim Kunce; five grandchildren, Eric Wendlandt, Julie Schroeder, Luke Bergin, Kathleen Irish, and Krissy Bergin; one great grandchild, Kyler Suddeth; and his sister, Audrey Shafer, Kansas City, MO.
