Billy J. King, 75, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Holmeswood Baptist Church, 97th & Holmes. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. A gathering for family and friends will be Wednesday, October 1st from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holmeswood Baptist Church in Bill's name.
Bill was born August 11, 1933 in Cedar Hill, Texas to Ellison and Etta King. He graduated from Duncanville High School in 1950 and married Billie Janet Kern in 1953. His 33 year railroad career included positions at Texas Pacific in Dallas, Missouri Pacific in St. Louis, and Union Pacific in Omaha, NE. After retiring Bill & Billie moved back to St. Louis briefly and then settled in Overland Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison & Etta King; one brother, Jack King; and two sisters, Lavada Moore and Thelma King. Survivors include his wife, Billie; one daughter, Dana Bart and son-in-law Tom of Overland Park; 2 grandchildren, Emily and Abbey Bart; 4 sisters, Rosa Coleman, Teenie Sims, Sarah Rhodes, and Glennie Cleveland; sister-in-law Tommie Cook; and several nieces & nephews.
