Billy Hamilton McCall was born November 16,1946 in Richmond, California. He was named after his father, who in WWII was one of those brave Americans who landed on Omaha Beach.

He grew up in Wichita where he made lifetime friends. He excelled in art as a child and ultimately decided to make fine art his career.

Starting at Wichita State, he finished his Bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas majoring in Drawing and Painting.  He met his wife, Carol Dewey, also in the art department on third floor Strong Hall.  After graduation they were married September 6, 1969 and left that day for California where he attended Stanford University.  Bill completed his Master of fine Arts Degree in 1971.

Living and painting in California he worked with many well known artists.  He was influenced by California figurative painting, plein air painting and non-objective painting.  He followed these trends throughout his career.

Back home in Kansas he and Carol continued painting. He enjoyed participating in plein air painting events, all types of art shows, art associations and sharing his interest in art with others.  He was proud to be represented by the region's finest art galleries and the wonderful people that ran them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Scotty and Frankie McCall, and his sister Joy Bagshaw.

He is survived by his wife, Carol McCall and his sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He passed peacefully on June 30, 2020 with loved ones gathered around him reciting the Lord's prayer.

He is loved and will be missed by his family, friends and especially his wife of over 50 years, Carol.
