Blaine Tucker

March 9, 1966 — March 9, 2014

Blaine Allen Tucker, 48, a kind and humble Kansas City area businessman died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 9, 2014. An entrepreneur at heart, Blaine helped build some of the most successful restaurants and technology companies in the Kansas City area. But above all, he was a devoted family man that adored his wife, Nereyda, his beautiful daughter, Bianca, and his large, extended family.

Blaine was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Norma and Robert Tucker. He attended Rockhurst and Shawnee Mission South High Schools and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business Administration.

Known by friends and family for his enormous generosity, Blaine supported many local charities, most notably the Children's Miracle Network. He was a man always concerned for others with a knack for benevolence. And he was funny. His wry and witty sense of humor went unsurpassed, but never at the expense of others. It was always more fun when Blaine was in the room.

Blaine was passionate about sports and his energy will definitely be missed this weekend at the Big XII Basketball Tournaments. An enthusiastic distance runner later in life, he often enjoyed training and competing at various distances, completing his first marathon in Las Vegas in 2011 in front of family and friends.

Blaine's notorious love affair with music saw him evolve from lead singer in a high school band to DJ'ing at various establishments throughout college, ultimately expanding his empire to include a flourishing mobile DJ company. Needless to say, he was king of karaoke.

A gracious host to anyone he met, Blaine was often busy entertaining others at Chiefs', Royals' and KC Sporting games and concerts. He was a man who would never waste money on bad Mexican food. His passion for the food business was realized through several partnerships in popular local restaurants.

Blaine was preceded in death by his father, Robert Walter Tucker.

He is survived by his wife, Nereyda; daughter, Bianca; mother, Norma Tucker; brothers, Scott (Kim) and Joel Tucker; brother-in-law, Julian Nunez (Ashley); nieces and nephews, Lili, Sydney, Jia, and Quinn Tucker and Carmela and LJ Nunez; uncles, James Simmons and John Walton; aunt, JoAnn Walton; and a world of true friends and family too numerous to name. We love you B.

A funeral service for Blaine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS. Entombment will immediately follow at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens – Indoor Garden of Memories. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Johnson County Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals of Greater Kansas City at CMNKC.org.
