Bobbie M Groves, 92, of Overland Park Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Bobbie was born on February 15, 1926 in Bossier City, Louisiana. She grew up in Louisiana with her three siblings and after graduating high school, she moved to Kansas City to start her career with Braniff Airlines. In 1951, she left the airlines to marry the love of her life, Harry, and start a family.
Bobbie enjoyed figure skating, playing tennis, traveling, entertaining, and most of all dancing. She enjoyed being with her family and always made sure the cookie jar was full at her house for when the grandkids came to visit! Bobbie was a long-term member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church, as well the clipped b’s organization for over 50 years. She often said that flying with the airlines was the best time of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Groves and is survived by siblings, Maxine Keeling, Dorthy Parker, and Athos E. Guillot Jr.; her children, Karen, Mike (Carol), Mark and Paul (Kelly); and 10 grandchildren. In addition, she has many great and great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-11 AM, with Mass at 11 AM, at Cure of Ars, 9401 Mission Rd., Leawood, Kansas 66206. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation in her name to either the Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alz.org OR the Good Shepherd Hospice organization at goodshepherdhospice.com
